Mantra Ideas
Your mantra is a word or phrase you will repeat over and over. An excellent way to do this is with a mala or string of prayer beads - your mantra repeated as you finger each bead. Another way is by setting two bowls in front of you - one empty and one with beads or beans. As you repeat your mantra, move the beads or beans into the empty bowl. Alternately, you can choose a certain period of time each day (5, 10, 20 minutes, etc.) to repeat your mantra. Set a timer and then enjoy the experience.
Om, Shanti, Shanti, Shanti ("peace, peace, peace" - Sanskrit)
Shima ("mother" - Navajo)
Ra Ma Da Sa, Sa Say So Hung ("sun, moon, earth, infinity, I am Thou")
I am one with the Earth. Together we grow and thrive!
Love before me. Love behind me. Love at my left. Love at my right. Love above me. Love below me. Love unto me. Love in my surroundings. Love to all. Love to the universe. (Peace before me...Light before me...Etc. - Prayer of Light)
Meditation & Visualization Ideas
Find a comfortable position sitting or lying down - but a position that will allow you to stay awake. Take a few minutes to settle your mind and focus on your intent.
Picture our planet surrounded by healing light - glowing, nurtured, growing.
In your mind, cradle Earth in your arms. Send all our love to the planet you hold and protect.
Breathe in slowly. Breathe out slowly. Continue and as you breathe out, imagine that you are filling first your immediate surroundings with love and healing. Breathe out and fill your town/city with love and healing. Continue as you fill more and more of the world with love and health.
Picture a damaged area of the Earth, such as a forest with too many trees cut down and truck tracks disrupting the forest floor. This is just the start - don't focus on this at length. Put your mental energy into visualizing new saplings growing up, up, and out. Trees, mosses, wildflowers, mushrooms, a multitude of healthy plant life growing more and more lush. Squirrel, deer, birds, and all manner of forest animals return and make their homes again. (Etc! Try this healing visualization with all sorts of natural settings.)
